Did you know that Gunn is a Challenge Success (CS) school?
Challenge Success is a Stanford-based program that believes “our society has become too focused on grades, test scores and performance, leaving little time and energy for our kids to become resilient, successful, meaningful contributors for the 21st century. Every day, we provide families and schools with the practical, research-based tools they need to raise healthy, motivated kids. Success, after all, is measured not at the end of the semester, but over the course of a lifetime.”
For more information about the program, visit their extensive website at http://www.challengesuccess.org/.
Gunn's 2015-2016 Challenge Success Charge
- Assess, reflect and influence Gunn's climate and culture around academic vulnerability.
- Assess, reflect and influence Gunn's communication systems to inform and connect community.
Gunn's Challenge Success Team and Focus Group members are comprised of representatives from students, parents and staff stakeholder groups.
The Gunn CS Team’s focus has been on promoting an environment that examines the social-emotional well being of students while maintaining high academic standards. Last year the Gunn CS Team organized a “Diverse Paths to Success” panel and offered “Student for a Day” experiences to staff members as an opportunity for teachers to follow a student’s schedule for an entire day to personally experience the demands of a typical day for students, and then discuss experiences at a staff meeting.
The Challenge Success Team would love to hear from you! We meet monthly and will review your ideas and suggestions, looking for how we can promote balance for all our students. Please fill out our Google Form.
